"Reach high, for the stars lay hidden in your soul;Dream big, for every dream precedes a goal."These were the lines Cheistha gifted me in my early twenties. She was everything a friend and a human needed to feel complete, nurtured and joyous. In her company, nothing could go amiss. While shopping in Janpath as a student, I had my heart beat for a junk necklace which was 200 rupees back in the day. 200 rupees was nothing less than a fortune for us 20-rupees-McD burger hoggers. Cheistha saw me soberly put this necklace back with a little tinge of longing. And of course, she clandestinely bought it and served it along the same 20-rupees wala burger stating that "Saumya, I have resolved that till the time I am alive, my friends should not be deprived of anything that gives them joy". Till she was alive, I never paid for anything in her company. And somehow, she made me feel happy about it - one place where I can be a giggly, demanding child. She was the force of nature, who is no longer here, but stays alive in what she taught us.Major chunk of my exposure to professional skills, confidence and creativity comes from her. She taught me to recognise the smallest of good things in me. She taught us all, I guess, the power of community. She championed empathy like no one else. And she remained gentle, even when she should have easily whacked my head to bring me back to senses.I once told her 'you're the Krishna to my Arjun'. There is nothing else which says it better - the impact, guidance and influence she brought into my life is almost filmy. And anyone's life she touched, she touched it deeply. For all of lifetime, Cheistha, I don't know if we're getting over you. Stay chirpy, wherever you are.

Sometimes, I find it incredible how comforting the mic and the stage is for me. There have been days that my anxiety levels have reduced as I have approached the stage. I don't know how to further intellectualise it, except saying, that the stage is my happy place :)Thank you Chitkara University for a memorable event. I think #ChitkaraLitFest is an annual highlight event that I will most look forward to in the years to come!
