What Stood Out

Compared to the other hearing aids on this list, the Jabra Enhance Select 50R hearing aids have the most diverse set of Android features. Through the Jabra Enhance Select App, we could adjust our hearing aid volume, change sound environments, and filter out noise.

Most importantly, unlike the other devices on this list, all Jabra Enhance models allow you to stream music and phone calls from your Android phone. While this feature might sound insignificant (after all, hearing aids are about remedying hearing loss), it comes in handy for anyone who wants to treat their hearing aids like headphones. Instead of having to remove our Jabra Enhance hearing aids to listen to music, you can keep them in.

Another feature we appreciated with these hearing aids was the professional support from Jabra’s team of hearing specialists. Included with our purchase was three years of unlimited support. Through the app, we could schedule appointments, during which time a Jabra Team member could run hearing tests and remotely adjust the settings on our hearing aids.

All of these features helped make the Jabra Enhance Select 50R incredibly easy to use and fine-tune to a variety of hearing loss types. Adjustments were as easy as pulling out an Android phone and tapping a few buttons.

Jabra Enhance Select 50R hearing aids cost $995 for the basic package, which includes the hearing aids, the charging case, and a one-year warranty. If, however, you pay $200 extra for the premium package, then you’ll get a three-year warranty plus three years of support from Jabra’s audiology team. We definitely recommend the premium package here, as remote support is essential when purchasing OTC hearing aids.

Drawbacks

While the Jabra Enhance Select 50R hearing aids are smaller than Lexie’s hearing aids, they might be a bit large for users who want something more discreet. Additionally, we don’t like that professional support from hearing specialists costs extra.

Eargo hearing aids, which are practically invisible when worn, include lifetime support from their hearing specialists (more on this below).

Of all the hearing aids on this list, the Eargo 6 is the only “invisible” model. When worn, they sit completely in one’s ear, and through remote adjustments through the Eargo app, we could easily adjust our Eargo’s settings.

What Stood Out

In terms of design, the Eargo 6 is the clear winner. Not only is this hearing aid the smallest on this list, but it also includes a sleek, compact charging case that can store up to two full recharges. And while the battery life on the Eargo 6 (roughly 16 hours) was slightly shorter than that of Jabra’s hearing aids, it was enough to get us through the day.

The Eargo 6 also supports a variety of features through the Eargo app. These include adjusting between different sound environments as well as adjusting the volume on the hearing aids. Our favorite Eargo app feature would have to be its Sound Adjust feature.

While the other hearing aids on this list allow you to adjust sound settings through smartphone apps –– as do these ones –– with the Eargo 6, you don’t even have to pull out your app for these adjustments to happen. For example, when I walked from a busy street to a quiet library, my hearing aids automatically adjusted to pick up more noise in my surroundings.

Since other brands like Jabra require you to pay for support, we appreciated that Eargo included this at no extra charge, and that there’s no expiration date on this support.

Drawbacks

The most noteworthy drawback of the Eargo 6 would have to be their lack of streaming capabilities. While the Eargo 6 does pair with Android phones for remote adjustments, we couldn’t stream music, calls, or other audio directly to our hearing aids. For these features, we’d recommend checking out Jabra Enhance or Lexie.

While Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids may lack the music streaming capabilities of Jabra Enhance, they do feature Bose hardware, giving them impressive sound quality.

What Stood Out

When we saw that Lexie hearing aids were made with Bose technology, we had high expectations for their sound performance, and these expectations were (mostly) met. While wearing our Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids, we found crisp sound quality in a variety of environments. In particular, we noticed that these hearing aids performed well in noisy settings. In restaurants, cafes, and noisy city streets, we found that they allowed us to focus on our conversations without totally losing the sounds of our surroundings.

Additionally, after pairing our B2 Plus hearing aids with a smartphone, we were able to adjust them remotely through the Lexie App. Through this app, we could switch through sound environments, fine-tune which frequencies we needed to amplify, and even adjust directionality. The Lexie B2 Plus was the only hearing aid on this list that allowed us to focus on sounds directly in front of us. This was particularly useful when having conversations in noisy environments.

Pricing

Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids cost $999. This includes the charging case and a one-year warranty. If you want an extended warranty, you can purchase a protection plan for $180, which covers even accidental damage for 24 months.

Drawbacks

While the sound quality was superb with the Lexie B2 Plus hearing aids, we were disappointed that these hearing aids didn’t support direct music streaming from smartphones. Additionally, while the Lexie app is compatible with Android phones, B2 Plus hearing aids can only stream calls from iPhones.
