For plant enthusiasts, spring is an exciting time. Many have begun planning — and planting — their gardens. Others prefer to stay out of the dirt and stroll among beautiful blooms at professionally landscaped gardens.
Between the numerous local plant sales, festivals and garden tours, there is a plant-based event for everyone.
FESTIVALS & SALES
SpringFest
April 12-13
The Tulsa Garden Center will host SpringFest at Woodward Park for the 69th year. The annual garden market is one of the largest educational events hosted by the Tulsa Garden Center. Various plant groups will be on hand with items for sale, such as the Tulsa Area Iris Society, which will be selling potted irises, and the Green Country Bonsai Society.

Master Gardener Plant Sale Pickup
April 18
Pick up your pre-ordered plants from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. April 18. Proceed to the drive-through pickup in front of the Exchange Center and stay in your car. Master Gardeners will meet you and arrange for your plant pickup. Be sure to print out your emailed receipt for complete pickup instructions. Plants are subject to availability. Plants that are not picked up on April 18 will be donated to the Tulsa Master Gardener Programs.

Sand Springs Herbal Affair & Festival
April 20
Shop herbs, perennials, heirloom plants, native plants and more at the 35th Sand Springs Herbal Affair in downtown Sand Springs. Attendees will also find arts and crafts, gardening supplies and decor.

Tulsa Area Iris Society Show & Sale
April 20, May 4
The Tulsa Area Iris Society has two exhibitions coming up. The event will be adjacent to the Linnaeus Teaching Garden in Woodward Park this year, so make sure to visit this garden as well as the display garden that will be in full bloom. Get tips for growing your own award-winning irises, and potted iris plants will be for sale.

Native Plant Sale at Philbrook
May 3-4
Join Philbrook Museum for Native Plant Weekend in celebration and support of the biodiversity that makes Oklahoma our home. Connect with community members doing important work to protect our wildlife and habitats, learn about simple ways to support pollinators at home and purchase native plants grown by Philbrook horticulturists. Stick around for Earth-friendly art making and live music. Entry is included with general admission ($5 after 5 p.m.) Free for members.
On Saturday, receive a free native plant with plant sale purchase, while supplies last. There will be pollinator-friendly nature crafts, watercolor botanic painting in the open studio, live music, painting demonstrations with Alpha Rho Tau, and Tulsa Zoo friends and the Oklahoma Conservation Commission will be on hand.

Wildlife Habitat Garden Tour and Plant Sale
May 18-19
The Tulsa Audubon Society is hosting its 31st annual tour of Tulsa area gardens and yards that feature native and wildlife-friendly plants, along with a plant sale from nurseries with native and wildlife friendly plants.
You may begin the tour at any of these five locations, all located in Tulsa: 5161 E. 27th Place, 3916 S. Sandusky Ave., 4115 E. 45 th St., 7515 S. Braden Ave. or 5406 E. 76th St.
Hours Saturday are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
Tickets are now available now. Children 13 and under are free.

Sip & Stroll Spring Party
April 13
Tulsa Botanic Garden is celebrating spring with an evening of flowers, food and drinks. Local restaurants including Bodean Restaurant, French Hen, Party Serve Catering and Biga/Duet will provide sweet or savory bites along the garden path as guests stroll past colorful blossoms and intoxicating fragrances.

Spring Home and Outdoor Living Expo
April 19-21
The Spring Home Expo will return to the SageNet Center at Expo Square. The Shopper’s Market will allow attendees to find a variety of products, many from local Oklahoma businesses. The Tulsa Garden Railroad Club will be operating a huge display that will feature several constantly running trains and a switchyard, and Rescue Roundup will have pets available for adoption.

Queens of the Spring Peony Workshop
May 2
Learn more about new varieties of peonies, see rare colors and enjoy blooms grown by local Oklahoma flower farmers. After a brief flower showcase and lecture from Ellen Weatherhold of Posegate Farms, participants will join in and design an opulent peony bouquet. All participants will get to build their own peony bouquet using the peonies featured in the showcase. Space is limited, and preregistration is required. This workshop is $85 for Tulsa Garden Center members. Non-members are $95.

Nature POP!

Sean Kenney’s Nature POP! is is on display at Tulsa Botanic Garden. This new exhibition features over 40 sculptures made from more than 800,000 Lego pieces and explores the beauty of nature through highly stylized, colorful displays that stand in striking contrast with their surroundings.
Produced by Imagine Exhibitions, Nature POP! blends art, science and innovation in the display of the artist’s newest sculptures. Nature POP! invites guests to consider how just as Lego bricks are interconnected, so is everything in nature.

Tulsa Garden Club Annual Garden Tour
May 11
Oklahoma’s longest-running educational, charitable garden tour returns for the 73rd year, in time for Mother’s Day weekend. This is a great opportunity to enjoy Tulsa’s private residential gardens in full spring splendor. Tour tickets allow entry to four midtown Tulsa gardens. Advance tickets are available for $15 via Eventbrite through 3 p.m. Friday, May 10. Tour day tickets may be purchased for $20 at the first featured garden on Saturday, May 11.
The tour is self guided, and garden/homeowners and/or their professional teams are often on site to answer questions. Wear weather-appropriate gear to fully enjoy these special spaces.
Proceeds benefit Tulsa Garden Club’s formal and informal gardening education projects, including Tulsa Garden Center, OSU horticulture and landscape architecture, Oklahoma Gardening, TCC’s Second Chance Program in horticulture with Conner Correctional Center inmates, along with other local and global gardening education partners.
