Today my 'one thing' is to submit my taxes.Usually I see this as a boring task...But I recently watched a MasterClass episode by Mark Cuban where he posed a question I did not know the answer to.He said to ask yourself..."Am I running this business in a manner where I can continue running it if something were to go wrong"?I'm guessing the answer will become clear after reviewing two things:1. Our spending patterns (Expenses)2. Our Income streams (Income)For creators, something going "wrong" could be- A platform like TikTok getting banned in the US- Being unable to create content for an extended period of time due to injury or grief or burnout- Getting dropped from your management- Getting "cancelled" If you derive all your income from one place, you wont be able to continue running your business if that stream drys up. It's scary to face the reality that being self employed as a creator is risky and unpredictable and fragile, but by figuring out where we truly stand helps us to make better decisions for the future.So while I'm doing my taxes I will be going through every transaction, line by line to make sure we can get through these weird economic times and continue being creatives for many years to come. Diversity and inclusion within brand campaigns is a topic I am super passionate about! 🏳️🌈I think a lot of brands don't want to "get it wrong", so they don't do anything at all. Let's change that!My recommendation is to make an effort to hear from diverse voices more regularly to learn how you can be more inclusive....You can do this by:📱 Following people on social media who think/work/live differently to you♿ Attending workshops to learn about specific marginalised groups and how you can make a real change ⌨ Using online tools like "alt-text" to keep your content accessible 🖥 Attending webinars to hear from panelists lived experiences and challenges Still stuck? If you are not on TikTok you probably won't understand how big this viral moment is, so let me try to explain….In the two weeks leading up to this song's release no one on the FYP could escape this song. We all knew the words before the full track was out 😂. People mostly were making videos teasing Jojo/the dance/the lyrics, but from a publicity and shareability stand point, you could tell this song was going to be a hit whether people liked it or not.
